(Rockville, MD)-December 4, 2006- Tech Council of Maryland and Arent Fox announced today that they will be conducting a multi-session conference series to address the issues around intellectual property. The Business of Intellectual Property (IP) series will kick off with a half-day conference to be held on Wednesday January 10, 2007 on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in Rockville, MD.
With its members on the leading edge of innovation in the advanced technology and life sciences fields, the Tech Council of Maryland said there is a pent-up demand for its members to understand the different protections offered on their intellectual property. Top-level speakers from the legal, venture capital, public sector and intellectual property consulting arenas will lead registrants through patent protection, trade secrets, copyrights, licensing and due diligence.
"The Business of Intellectual Property (IP) series offers participants the opportunity to learn best practices on how to protect their most important assets and how to leverage those assets in the marketplace," said Julie Coons, CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland. "This series will provide an invaluable forum for our membership by placing the leading experts on IP in front of our audience."

Organizers of the series expect each session to draw between 75 and 100 C-Level executives. The series begins on January 10, 2007. The second session in the series is scheduled for May 17, 2007 and the third session in the series is tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2007.
